Girlguiding Cambridgeshire West can provide a variety of trainings to support leaders in running Unit meetings, First Aid, management skills, good practice in keeping accounts, towards qualifications to fun residential events, international trips, etc, to undertake adventurous activities, learn new skills, and so on.
Basic Section trainings and First Response trainings are held each term, aimed primarily at new Guiders, Young Leaders working on the Leadership Qualification, and Unit Helpers, but they are open to anyone who feels she might benefit from them.
Girlguiding Cambridgeshire West holds a County Training Day each year with a large choice of sessions, some directly related to the programme and others of more general interest. The day often includes an opportunity to find out more about Guiding in Cambridgeshire West, and a chance to try new skills/activities. County Day is held on the first Saturday in March, and application forms are out in January.
“Air and share” evenings are held each term for mentors supporting new Guiders through the Leadership Qualification and new Commissioners through the Commissioner Induction programme. These events move around the County and are held (where possible) on different days of the week – see the County Diary for more details. These evenings provide an opportunity to meet the County Leadership Co-Ordinator and the County Commissioner Mentor Co-Ordinator, and to share problems and tips with other mentors.
Training is also available for Commissioners – at our annual Commissioners, Advisers and Appointment Holders Day in January, at County Day, and from time to time on request. This is supplemented by other training opportunities provided by Anglia Region, which are an excellent opportunity to meet Commissioners from other areas.
For more information about training opportunities, or to make a request for a training on a specific topic, please contact the County Office.
