Girlguiding UK is the UK’s largest voluntary organisation for girls and young women, with about 600,000 members including about 65,000 trained volunteer adult leaders. Guiding is open to any girl or young women regardless of faith, race, culture, nationality or any other circumstance. There are over 9 million members worldwide.

More than 50% of the female population has been in Guiding at some time in their lives. Around 30% of 8 year old girls are Brownies.

The aim of guiding is to help girls and young women to develop emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually so that they can make a positive contribution to their community and the wider world.

Rainbows are aged 5-7, Brownies are aged 7-10, Guides are aged 10-14, Senior Section members are aged 14-25.

Girlguiding Cambridgeshire West extends from north of Peterborough to south of St Neots and from west of Kimbolton to Earith, and has 3832 members aged between 5 and 65.

We have approximately 250 Units meeting weekly. Our volunteer leaders give about 1200 hours per week to Guiding! We have nearly 400 girls waiting to join – if we found one new leader in each town and village we would be able to take them all!
